MRSA, like other anti-biotic resistant bacterial infections, can be difficult to treat. A new study discusses the positive effect of hyperbaric oxygen treatment on killing Staphylococcus aureus. So, I went digging into the recent journals and found multiple articles on the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on bacterial infections.
Bacteria, viruses, fungi in the human body don’t thrive in a high oxygen environment. When we add increased oxygen via hyperbarics, not only does it kill the bacterial overgrowth but it stimulates our own immune system to work a little harder. And, a few other studies showed that hyperbaric oxygen assisted additional antibiotics to be more potent in these hard-to-cure patients.
